Daegu based artist, Mijeong Hwang’s work is about flowers and she constantly tries using various methods, materials and ideas to express in her own way of speaking. In the fast-developing era of high technology, the exhibition will give one time to think about the challenges such as ‘accepting technology’, ‘adherence of tradition’, and ‘identity of painting etc. and fall in love with the charm of the media itself which is oil painting.
Meanwhile, we only accept a reservation by message or call for a visit, considering the circumstances with Corona19. We support artists who are in a difficult situation where their upcoming exhibitions are all canceled or temporarily postponed while maintaining the true value of art that only real, not digital, can bring. The exhibition is also viewed through our website and social media. We hope to feel the energy of spring that has been forgotten by Corona19 through the exhibition ‘Flower’s Name’.

계명대학교 대학원에서 서양화를 수학하고 대구에 거주하며 활발한 활동을 펼치고 있는 작가 황미정의 개인전, ‘꽃의 이름, Flower’s Name’ 전이 2020년 4월 15일에서 2020년 5월 6일까지 리알티(Realti) 갤러리에서 열린다. 황미정 작가는 ‘꽃’이라는 소재를 물감과 다른 재료들에 대한 끊임없는 연구를 통해 자신만의 화법으로 풀어내는 작가이다. 빠른 속도로 발전하는 하이 테크놀러지의 시대 속 ‘기술의 수용’, ‘전통의 고수’라는 난제와 ‘회화의 정체성’이라는 화두에 대해 진지하게 생각해 보게 만드는 이번 전시를 통해 관객들은 회화의 물성, ‘유화’라는 매체 자체의 매력에 흠뻑 빠질 수 있을 것이라 기대 된다.
한편, 갤러리는 코로나19로 인해 직접 관람이 어려운 상황을 고려하여 일명 '비대면 맞춤관람제'를 이번 전시에 적용하였다. 이는 전시 관람을 위해 원하는 날짜와 시간을 사전에 알리고 방문하여 작품 감상을 하는 방식으로, 개별 독립 관람을 통해 바이러스 감염을 예방하면서도 디지털이 아닌 실제만이 가져 올 수 있는 진정한 가치를 유지하고 전시 일정이 취소되거나 잠정 연기되는 힘든 상황에 놓인 예술가들을 응원하기 위해 마련된 대안이다. 또한 리알티 갤러리가 운영하는 온라인 채널을 통해서도 전시 작품 및 관련 내용들을 확인할 수 있으며 특히 전시를 위해 제작되는 동영상 컨텐츠는 유화에 임하는 작가만의 노하우를 공개하며 대중과의 간극을 더욱 좁힐 수 있을 것이다. 황미정 작가 ‘꽃의 이름, Flower’s Name’전을 통해 코로나19 사태로 잊혀진 봄의 기운을 느낄 수 있게 되기를 진심으로 기대해 본다.
