The Variations on the Theme of Daydreaming

The sorrowful scenery of Minji Kim’s painting tells us about the utopia that we lost while we appreciate Dagyeom Lee’s painting telling us about how she writes a poem with layers of lines and admire Haeyeon Hwang’s discipline through making her work that presents the new vision of nature. Their artworks are various forms of a diary that make us reflect ourselves. The exhibition, ‘The Variations on the Theme of Daydreaming’ is about three artists who keep track of their daily life through their work of art.

빠르게 달리는 차 창 너머로 보이는 변화무쌍한 풍경들에 오히려 고향, 낙원 등이 갖는 영원성을 투사시키려는 김민지 작가의 슬픔이, 언어로 표현될 수 없는 그 이상의 것들을 이야기하느라 무수히 중첩시키는 선들을 통해 새로운 공감을 이끌어내는 이다겸 작가의 시적 감수성이, 매일이 양식이나 일과처럼 정리된 화면을 구축하며 화면 위에 새로운 자연을 제시하는 황해연 작가의 작업을 통한 수련이 관객들에게 자신을 반추할 수 있는 다양한 형식의 일기로 다가온다. ‘꿈 혹은 일상의 변주(The Variations on the Theme of Daydreaming)’ 전은 이렇듯 자신의 일상의 흔적을 ‘회화’라는 형식으로 기록하는 세 명의 작가들의 작품에 관한 것이다.
